About this wine
Character
A dense, dry Pinot Noir from the Corton hill with dark cherry and ripe forest berries, followed by undergrowth and black pepper. The tension between powerful substance and silky finesse that defines the house's Pinot Noirs also shapes this wine. At 13.5% vol., it stays agile and opens up with air.
Terroir and origin
The Le Rognet-et-Corton vineyard lies on the Corton hill in the Côte de Beaune. The Buisson family estate is based in Saint-Romain and farms 13 hectares across the Saint-Romain, Santenay and Beaune appellations. The plots sit on limestone soils with varying exposures, which gives rise to the mineral complexity the estate is known for. Henri Buisson introduced biodynamic farming in 1990, at a time when it was still considered eccentric.
Grape variety and vinification
Pure Pinot Noir. Gilles Buisson works with minimal intervention: spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, no fining, no filtration. This demands absolute cleanliness in the vineyard and constant attention, letting the vintage and the terroir take the lead.
On the palate
Dense and taut in structure, with silky tannins and lively acidity that carries the wine. The finish stays long and spicy, revealing the mineral vein of the limestone soil.
Special features
A Grand Cru from biodynamic farming, bottled at Domaine Henri & Gilles Buisson in Saint-Romain. Foregoing fining and filtration preserves the texture and makes the wine a true reflection of its origin. A few years of bottle age will benefit it.
