About this wine

Character

The Bourgogne Aligoté AOC 2023 from Domaine Rémi Jobard in Meursault is a dry white wine from old Aligoté vines. In the glass, pale yellow with green highlights, clear and bright. The nose is dew-fresh and lively: rich yellow fruit with apple, nectarine and mirabelle plum, topped with indistinct white blossom.

Terroir and origin

The grapes come from the Meursault site En Buzigny, home to old vines. The domaine has worked without artificial fertilisers and pesticides since 1994, and without herbicides since 1998. The vine rows are tended by hand, cover-cropped and unfertilised, with cordon pruning keeping yields low.

Grape variety and vinification

Pure Aligoté. The cellar houses two large presses, both built to process the grapes over many hours at the lowest possible pressure, so that only the finest must is obtained, free of bitter compounds and unwanted phenols. The wine is bottled unfiltered, with stability coming from two winters of ageing rather than technical intervention.

On the palate

Here too, fruit takes the lead: juicy stone fruit with nectarine and mirabelle plum, alongside savoury notes reminiscent of sage and tarragon. The wine has depth yet remains light-footed at 12.0% ABV.

Food pairings

With oysters, sashimi, Burgundy snails or a creamy, mild quiche Lorraine.

Special features

Rémi Jobard has only recently begun vinifying Aligoté himself. His father had bought the vines, but always sold the grapes to a négociant.
