About this wine

Character

A dry rosé Cava at 12.0% Vol., built on freshness rather than weight. Strawberry and raspberry set the tone, joined by rose blossom and a touch of brioche from lees ageing. The bubbles are fine and linger for a long time.

Terroir and origin

Gramona has worked in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in the Penedès since 1850. The soils there are shaped by limestone and fossil deposits, a base that carries the grapes' acidity. The Batlle i Gramona family treats its vineyards as a living ecosystem: Javier Gramona and his team intervene only where there is a reason to do so.

Grape variety and vinification

The cuvée blends Pinot Noir and Grenache. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle, following the méthode champenoise that has guided the house's cellar work for generations. In Gramona's underground cellars, more than four million bottles age, with lees ageing given all the time it needs.

On the palate

The entry is taut and crisp, with acidity running through the wine without ever making it thin. Pomegranate and lemon define the mid-palate, the bubbles staying fine and well-integrated. The finish is dry and lingers for a long time.

Highlights

As early as 2000, the family converted all 150 hectares to organic farming, at a time when this was still considered radical in the Penedès. The label carries the Demeter logo. Gramona is among Spain's most respected Cava producers.
