About this wine

Character

A Pinot Noir with a serious, earthy edge: dry, 13.0% vol., built on structure rather than opulence. Henri & Gilles Buisson work from Saint-Romain with an artisanal approach, letting the terroir take the lead. A young Grand Cru that demands patience.

Terroir and origin

The Le Rognet-et-Corton vineyard sits on the steeper, northern slope of the Corton hill. The soils there are deep, rich in clay and iron, giving the wine earthy power and mineral depth. The 2021 vintage followed a cool, rainy summer and a dry harvest: vibrant acidity, clean fruit.

Grape variety and vinification

Single-varietal Pinot Noir, controlled maceration and fermentation, aged in oak barrels. In the estate's cellar, the must ferments spontaneously with its own yeasts, without fining or filtration. This restraint demands meticulous vineyard work, which the family has practised biodynamically since 1990.

On the palate

Ruby red with violet highlights. On the nose, dark cherry, raspberry and cassis, underscored by violet, rose, spice, earth and a hint of oak. Silky, medium-bodied, with precise acidity, velvety and well-integrated tannins, and a long mineral finish. Ageing potential of 10 to 15 years.

Food pairings

Bœuf bourguignon, braised leg of lamb with herbes de Provence or wild duck with root vegetables. Also excellent with roast duck breast with cherries and coq au vin. To finish, aged Époisses or Comté.

Special features

The family estate has existed since 1947 and farms 13 hectares in the Côte de Beaune. Bottled in Saint-Romain.
