About this wine

Character

A tautly built Pinot Noir with clear contours. Power and silky texture stand side by side, with neither overshadowing the other; the freshness keeps the dense core of dark forest berries in motion.

Terroir and origin

The grapes grow in the Grand Cru site of Le Rognet-et-Corton in the Côte de Beaune. Limestone soil and an exposed slope give the wine coolness and precision. The Buisson family has farmed its plots biodynamically since Henri Buisson introduced the method in 1990.

Grape variety and vinification

Single-varietal Pinot Noir. Gilles Buisson vinifies with minimal intervention, ferments spontaneously with natural yeasts, and forgoes fining and filtration. The wine is vinified dry at 13.0% ABV.

On the palate

Ripe forest berries and dark cherry, along with fine spice and a stony coolness. The acidity stays vibrant, the tannins are finely integrated, the finish is long.

Food pairings

With roast pheasant, braised sweetbreads and boeuf bourguignon. Also with roast duck breast with cassis reduction, coq au vin or game ragout with wild mushrooms. For meat-free dishes, truffle risotto and aged mild semi-hard cheese are a fine match.

Special features

Bottled at Domaine Henri & Gilles Buisson in Saint-Romain. The family estate farms 13 hectares in the appellations of Saint-Romain, Santenay and Beaune according to biodynamic principles; the younger generation is helping shape the estate's current style.
