About this wine
Character
A dry Cava of lean build: 12.0% ABV, fine and persistent perlage, ripe lemon and green apple over a chalky clarity. The Magnum format slows the bottle ageing and keeps the freshness alive for longer.
Terroir and origin
The vines grow in the limestone soils around Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in the Penedès; limestone and fossil deposits lend tension and a saline minerality. The Batlle i Gramona family has run the house since 1850 and converted all 150 hectares fully to organic farming back in 2000, when this was still considered revolutionary in the Penedès. Javier Gramona and his team treat the vineyard as a living ecosystem, where every intervention is carefully considered.
Grape variety and vinification
The region's classic trio: Xarello lends body and structure, Macabeu floral finesse, Parellada citrus freshness. Fermentation takes place in the bottle using the méthode champenoise, with patient lees ageing in the estate's underground cellars, where over four million bottles rest.
On the palate
Dry and crisp, carried by vibrant acidity and a creamy mousse. White blossom, brioche and almond linger, the finish stays saline and clear.
Food pairing
Oysters and gambas al ajillo, Jamón Ibérico with Marcona almonds, grilled sea bass or a fine tortilla española. Equally fitting as an apéritif to open a long evening.
