About this wine
Character
A Priorat of both power and finesse, garnet red with a dark core. The nose is dark-fruited: black cherries, blackberries and mulberries, joined by citrus zest and mild spice notes of allspice and liquorice. Smoky nuances and a pronounced acidity create tension, while the wine's overall stature remains calm and deep.
Terroir and origin
The Les Tosses site sits at 600 metres and ranks among the highest-altitude vineyards in Torroja del Priorat. In sparse slate soil grow 90-year-old Carignan vines, exposed to the southwest sun, yielding sparingly. Dominik Huber and head winemaker Tatjana Peceric farm the estate's 15 hectares organically and biodynamically.
Grape variety and vinification
A single-varietal Carignan, hand-harvested and fermented with whole clusters. Since 2009, Terroir al Limit has worked with whole-cluster infusion: the berries remain uncrushed, with neither pump-overs nor punch-downs. Ageing takes place in cement. 13.5% ABV, dry.
On the palate
The entry is firmly structured, the tannin fine-grained and almost powdery in its delicacy. Within it, the fruit remains transparent and ruby-red, kept in motion by ripe acidity. The finish carries on long and multi-layered. This young wine benefits from a broad-bellied decanter and a large glass.
Special features
Terroir al Limit was founded in 2004 in Torroja by Dominik Huber together with winemaker Eben Sadie, who left the project in 2012. Huber favours infusion over extraction, harvests early and works the vineyard with biodynamic preparations. Les Tosses is a single-site selection within this range.
