About this wine
Character
A Meursault that favours subtlety: the nose remains discreet and refined, with lightly toasted hazelnuts, a touch of oak and vanilla, followed by ripe pineapple and lemon. Look closer and you'll find salted popcorn and a hint of gunflint. The overall picture is well composed, subtle rather than opulent.
Terroir and origin
The grapes come from the Meursault parcels Chevalières and Luchets, which grandmother Marguerite Buisson brought into her dowry. The vines are 70 years old and sit at around 280 metres above sea level. The Buisson family farms its 13 hectares in the Côte de Beaune biodynamically, a practice Henri Buisson introduced as early as 1990.
Grape variety and vinification
Chardonnay. The wine was aged for ten to twelve months in a mix of 228-, 350- and 500-litre barriques and tonneaux, of which at most 10 % are replaced each year, alongside WineGlobes and concrete eggs. Frédéric Buisson tasted the wine daily and racked the barrels whenever he judged it right. It was fined with bentonite, filtered only very lightly, and sulphured solely at bottling, with a maximum of 40 to 50 mg/l total sulphite.
On the palate
The fruit is ripe and juicy, intense and expressive. This is joined by taut, fresh acidity and a lively minerality. The oak is finely judged, lending elegant spice, a well-integrated nutty note and a light buttery quality. The finish carries a mouth-watering salinity and a subtle touch of pepper.
Distinctive features
The wine is named after the grandmother whose dowry brought in the Meursault parcels. 13.5 % ABV, dry.
