About this wine
Character
A rosé cava built on balance and drinkability rather than edgy precision. The fruit takes centre stage, held in shape by fine yeast character and saline clarity.
Terroir and origin
Gramona works in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in the Penedès, on limestone and fossil deposits. Roent is a cuvée from several family parcels and from grapes sourced through Aliances per la Terra, a pro-biodynamic association in the Penedès led by Gramona. In 2000, the family converted its 150 hectares to organic farming.
Grape variety and vinification
70% Pinot Noir and 30% Garnacha negra. The 2023 vintage brought persistent drought: only 233 mm of rain fell between January and October, with extreme heat episodes in July and August. Harvest began on 25 July, the earliest in the winery's history, with berry size and yield per hectare below average. Grapes were picked by hand into 25-kilo crates, maceration provided the colour, after which the must was drawn off. After at least 24 months of ageing came disgorgement and a minimal dosage.
On the palate
The fruit steps forward immediately: raspberry, redcurrant, morello cherry and wild strawberry, followed by the lactic note of creamy toffee and a nutty, yeasty picture of almond pastry and nutty notes. As the length builds, the fruit recedes and stony, chalky nuances take over, lending contour. The finish stays dry, clean and invigorating.
Special features
The label carries the Demeter logo. The winery's underground cellars hold over four million bottles, aged according to the méthode champenoise.
