About this wine
Character
«Le Pierrot» is a dry red wine made from Pinot Noir and Gamay, bottled by Domaine Thomas-Collardot. At 12.5% Vol., it stays in a light register: red cherry and raspberry set the tone, the structure is slender and lively.
Terroir and origin
The estate sits at the heart of Puligny-Montrachet and farms 2.5 hectares. The vines trace back to Jacqueline Collardot's grandfathers, Henri Chavy and Maurice Thomas; her father Pierre Thomas ran them until 1992, after which they were leased out. In 2010 Jacqueline Collardot took the vineyards back, in 2015 the first vintage vinified by her own hand was bottled, and in 2018 her son Matthieu joined.
Grape variety and vinification
The Coteaux Bourguignons appellation allows a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay, and that is exactly what this wine builds on. In the cellar, the estate works with a light touch: only gentle filtration, no fining, sparing use of sulphur. The style aims for transparency and precision rather than breadth.
On the palate
Juicy and bright. Red cherry and raspberry carry the wine, with a floral touch of violet and a hint of spice. The acidity sets the line, the tannin stays fine-grained, and the finish has a mineral edge. Ready to drink through 2027.
Food pairings
Grilled poultry and coq au vin, also grilled salmon. For cheese, mild varieties such as Comté and aged goat cheese work well.
Highlights
Until 2015, the grapes were sold to négociants; only since then has the family bottled the wine itself. The estate's annual production is around 10,000 bottles, made by two people.
