About this wine
Character
A Champagne that lives up to its name: expressive from the very first sniff, with exotic citrus fruits, fragrant blossoms and expressive minerality. The nose promises power and juiciness, and gains further depth with exposure to oxygen. A wine that needs time in the glass.
Terroir and origin
The grapes come from seven cru vineyards of the Côte des Blancs: Chouilly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oiry, Cramant, Oger, Cuis and Villeneuve. The family estate is based in Cramant and farms around eight hectares planted exclusively with chardonnay. Each plot is vinified separately, and the chalky soils give the wines their tension.
Grape variety and vinification
Pure chardonnay from the 2021 vintage, supplemented with 14% reserve wines from 2020. Aged in oak barrels on fine lees, unfined and unfiltered. Bottled in July 2022, disgorged in June 2024, dosage 3.5 g/l. Yields remain low, harvesting is done by hand, as is riddling.
On the palate
Juicy, powerful and precise, with pronounced effervescence and saline minerality. The finish is long and impressive, carried effortlessly by its 12.5% ABV.
Food pairing recommendations
A wine for the apéritif and for classic French dishes with shellfish and fish.
Special features
Extra Brut with a dosage of 3.5 g/l: at Pertois-Lebrun, a low dosage is the standard, with some cuvées forgoing added sugar entirely. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this cuvée combines the energy of a young vintage with the complexity of reserve wines.
