About this wine
Character
A Priorat that seeks not power but clarity. The dark fruit and colour intensity of earlier vintages has been shed, leaving brightness, spice and a direct structure. Dominik Huber himself considers Les Manyes the best wine Terroir al Limit has made to date.
Terroir and origin
The parcel measures 1.5 hectares and lies at the northern edge of Priorat, at the foot of the Montsant mountain, at around 800 metres of altitude. There, 70 to 75-year-old vines root into a plateau of clay and loam. The label reads "Vi d'altura", Catalan for wine from the heights.
Grape variety and vinification
Single-varietal Grenache, specifically the Garnacha Peluda mutation with its fine down on the berries. Fermentation is carried out with whole clusters following the principle of infusion rather than extraction, without pigeage. Since the 2016 vintage no oak has been used; the wine ages entirely in concrete tank. The estate's 15 hectares are farmed biodynamically.
On the palate
Bright cherry red in the glass with pale highlights; on the nose cranberry, redcurrant, sour cherry and rosehip, alongside colourful pepper, oregano, roasted almond, green olive and red fruit tea. On the palate the red fruit stays intense and shapes a long finish. The 14.5% ABV is well integrated, the wine shows delicate and playful, shooting forward arrow-straight.
Food pairings
With coq au vin and braised root vegetables, grilled scorpionfish with saffron mayonnaise and red lentil salad, or roasted parsley root with balsamic glaze and rocket salad.
Special features
