About this wine
Character
Les Tosses 2018 is a single-varietal Carignan from the Priorat that channels its power inward: dark fruit, cool herbal spice and a silky texture on the palate. Dominik Huber and Tatjana Peceric craft it as a «vi d'altura», a wine of altitude.
Terroir and origin
The Carignan vines grow at 650 metres above sea level. The subsoil is the black slate typical of the Priorat, known as licorella: stony, austere, cold. These traits remain distinctly perceptible in the wine — a cool, mineral thread beneath the dark fruit. The estate itself is based in Torroja del Priorat.
Grape variety and vinification
Pure Carignan. Since 2009, Terroir al Limit has worked with whole-cluster infusion: the berries stay whole, they are not crushed, there is no pumping over the cap, and punching down is no longer practised. Ageing today lasts only three months in Stockinger foudres, so oak plays a distinctly minor role. The estate's 15 hectares are farmed organically and biodynamically.
On the palate
The nose shows blueberry, cassis, blackberry and sweet cherry, alongside ethereal nuances of eucalyptus and mint, Mediterranean herbs and floral notes of violet and pansy. On the palate, minerality takes centre stage, the tannin stays delicate, and fine extract sweetness with noticeable drive carry the wine. Fruit, acidity and structure are in balance; on the finish, the aromas return with shifting intensity.
Food pairings
Grilled octopus with lemon-thyme vinaigrette and bulgur salad, grilled entrecôte with roasted cauliflower and pistachio pearl barley salad, or secreto ibérico with artichoke bottoms and rosemary jus.
Notable features
2006 bottles were filled in the 2018 vintage. The wine is vinified dry at 13.5% ABV.
