About this wine
Character
Intense straw yellow, with a gentle, relaxed mousse. The nose is complex yet understated: white and red berries, apple skin and cellared apple, lemon pips, zest and grapefruit juice, underscored by oyster shell, dark bread crust and nutty pastry.
Terroir and origin
The grapes grow in Écueil and Les Mesneux in the Petite Montagne de Reims, on the Mont Âme parcel with its chalky soil and the Migerats parcel with its loose clay soil. Écueil sits between limestone slopes and a small forest that shelters the microclimate; the soils are pure limestone, the exposure mostly southerly.
Grape variety and vinification
Single-varietal Pinot Noir from 55-year-old vines grown from massale selection. The base wine fermented spontaneously after pressing and was aged in 300-litre barrels; the oak comes from the forest of Écueil, a few hundred metres from the vines. Nothing was stabilised, filtered or fined. Bottled in July 2018, disgorged on 13 June 2025, Brut Nature with 0 grams of dosage.
On the palate
Ripe yet fresh, dense and juicy, with drive and fine minerality. The fruit recalls ripe stone fruit, raspberry, nectarine, blood orange and lemon sorbet, with a hint of chalk and limestone. The texture is creamy, the acidity clear, the salinity mouth-watering, the finish remarkable.
Distinctive features
Géraldine and Richard took over the vines in 2008, as the ninth generation, and farm 8.5 hectares of Premier Cru biodynamically: no pesticides, no herbicides, preparations made from nettle, horsetail and valerian, hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts. 12.5% vol.
