About this wine

Character

A Meursault aiming for clarity rather than opulence: cool fruit, incisive minerality, no intrusive toasty notes. Rémi Jobard wants the terroir to show unveiled in the glass, and this 2022 needs air and time to get there.

Terroir and origin

Les Narvaux is one of four village lieux-dits Rémi Jobard farms in Meursault, alongside Sous La Velle, Chevalières and En Luraule. The estate spans nine hectares. Synthetic fertilisers and pesticides disappeared in 1994, with herbicides following in 1998. The rows are worked by hand and cover-cropped, not fertilised, and cordon pruning keeps yields low.

Grape variety and winemaking

Chardonnay, pressed in two large presses operating at the lowest possible pressure: grapes picked in the morning press for at least six hours, those picked in the afternoon often overnight, a full twelve hours. This way, only the finest must reaches the barrel, free of bitter compounds. Ageing lasts around 15 months in 600-litre barrels from cooper Stockinger, made from French, Austrian and Slavonian oak. About a fifth of the barrels are renewed each year, after which the wine rests in tank.

On the palate

Taut and precise, with vibrant acidity and a fine, silky texture. Citrus and white blossom, followed by a saline, mineral finish. Densely built, but never heavy.

Special features

Élevage Prolongé means extended ageing: the wine gains its stability through two winters of ageing rather than technical intervention, and is bottled unfiltered. In magnum, it then continues to evolve more slowly. 13.0% vol., dry.
