About this wine
Character
A Metodo Classico that sets ripeness and coolness side by side. Pale golden yellow with a fine mousse, on the nose golden apples and vanilla over warm puff pastry, followed by graphite, crushed stone, nutshells and lemon zest. Well proportioned, without heaviness.
Terroir and origin
Cà del Vént, the house of winds, stands on the steep hills near Brescia. The wine comes from two plots: M, 0.6 hectares of Chardonnay at 320 metres facing southwest, deep yellow clay rich in organic matter, with high mineral content and a subalkaline pH; F, 0.4 hectares of Pinot Noir at 380 metres facing west, yellow-to-red clay soil, strongly mineralised. Antonio Tornincasa and Flavio Faliva have farmed 7.5 hectares biodynamically since 1994 and deliberately forgo the Franciacorta appellation.
Grape variety and vinification
60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. After pressing, the grapes fermented spontaneously in used wood, where they were aged for seven months; the blend was assembled on 22.3.2019. The sparkling wine then rested 56 months on the lees. It was disgorged on 11.12.2023 pas operé, meaning exclusively with wine from the same batch and without dosage.
On the palate
Lively perlage and expressive aromatics: yellow apples, plus notes of cellar and must apple from the base wine's slightly oxidative ageing. Further red berries, lemon pips, almonds, nuts and stony minerality. Intense and juicy, yet delicate and elegant.
Special features
MFPC stands for the plots M and F as well as Pinot Nero and Chardonnay. No cold stabilisation, no filtration, no fining. 12.5% vol., dry.
