About this wine
Character
The Pinot de Diel Sekt Rosé Brut N°003 Tirage 2024 is a rosé grower's sparkling wine from Schlossgut Diel on the Nahe, made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. Atop the red fruit lies a cool, saline, spicy note that sums up the nose.
Terroir and origin
Schlossgut Diel is located on Burg Layen near Rümmelsheim. The vines for this sparkling wine grow on weathered Rotliegend soils, whose imprint shows in the glass as graphite and saline spice.
Grape variety and vinification
A cuvée of Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. The sparkling wine spent over two years on the lees, and the bottles were hand-riddled and hand-disgorged. The dosage is 5 g/l, placing it at the lower end of what Brut allows. 12.0% vol.
On the palate
Juicy red berry fruit, carried by fine, invigorating carbonation and savoury spice. On the nose beforehand, small wild strawberries and wild raspberries, together with wild herbs and a fine note of pepper.
Food pairings
An apéritif that also holds its own at the table: with spicy, earthy dishes, salmon tartare, seared scallops or lightly matured raw-milk cheese.
Special features
The Pinot de Diel is the estate's VDP.SEKT.PRESTIGE. Caroline Diel has run Schlossgut Diel in its seventh generation, since 2017 together with her husband Sylvain and her brother Victor. Falstaff, Feinschmecker and the FAZ named her Winemaker of the Year.
