About this wine
Character
The Puligny-Montrachet "Les Enseignères" 2024 is a dry white wine from the lieu-dit of the same name at the heart of the appellation, at village level. At 12.5% vol. it stays lean; the house style aims for transparency over opulence and precision over breadth.
Terroir and origin
Domaine Thomas-Collardot comprises 2.5 hectares in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet. The vines date back to Jacqueline Collardot's grandfathers, Henri Chavy and Maurice Thomas; her father Pierre Thomas farmed them until 1992, after which they were leased to cousins. In 2010 Jacqueline Collardot took the plots back, trained at the CFPPA in Beaune, and bottled her first vintage of her own in 2015. Her son Matthieu joined in 2018. Alongside Les Enseignères, the estate also owns Les Nosroyes and the premier cru Hameau de Blagny.
Grape variety and vinification
Pure Chardonnay. Gentle pressing, 24 hours of settling, then sixteen months on fine lees in used 228-litre pièces that have already held two to four wines. The wine is unfined, only lightly filtered, and sulphur additions are largely avoided.
On the palate
Crisp citrus fruit and lemon zest, alongside a fine-grained chalky texture and a saline pull that carries the dry finish. No buttered toast, no vanilla: the oak serves as a vessel, not a seasoning.
Special features
The family has vinified the wine themselves since 2015; before that, the grapes went to négociants. Annual production is around 10,000 bottles.
