About this wine

Character

Pale golden yellow with green reflections, cool and fine-grained in the glass. Minerality and freshness define this Sauvignon Blanc, the aromatics remain restrained, the structure keeps the drinkability lively. A Sancerre of finesse, not of volume.

Terroir and origin

Domaine Vacheron farms 46 hectares in the Sancerrois along the Loire. The appellation's soil types shape the estate's style: limestone-rich Caillottes lend mineral freshness, Terres blanches of marl and clay-limestone bring depth and complexity, while the Silex parcels, with their heat-retaining flint, contribute smoky notes and intense aromatics.

Grape variety and vinification

Pure Sauvignon Blanc. The family estate is run by cousins Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron, one trained in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the other in Burgundy. The estate's individual plots are vinified separately, so that each terroir can speak for itself.

On the palate

Green apple, citrus, green gooseberry and grapefruit carry the opening, joined with air by nettle, green tomato and green bell pepper. That same herbaceous freshness carries through the palate, supported by a lively structure. Dry, 13.0% vol.

Food pairings

A wine for the terrace and for a cuisine built around vegetables and herbs.

Special features

The 1500 ml magnum is the format for the large table. Behind it stand four generations of family history and an estate that ranks among the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in the Sancerrois.
