About this wine

Character

A wine of nonchalant presence: intense on the nose yet effortless, with vibrancy, depth and a tension that still holds back. The bouquet feels ethereal, floral and light-footed without losing substance.

Terroir and origin

Les Petits Monts lies directly above the Grand Cru Richebourg and next to Cros Parantoux. The soil is extremely sparse and thin, with bare limestone rock often just a few centimeters below the surface, forcing the vines to dig deep into the stone. The plots stretch across the slope and are worked by hand and with horses. Arnaud Sirugue and Sophie Noëllat farm 1.1 hectares here, part of the twelve hectares in Vosne-Romanée they have jointly run since 2023.

Grape variety and vinification

Pinot Noir, fermented with 60% whole clusters. The higher share of new barrels gives the wine noticeably more structure and potential; aging at the estate lasts twelve to fifteen months. Sophie Noëllat and Arnaud Sirugue deliberately use whole-cluster fermentation in warm vintages to preserve freshness and refine the tannins. 13.5% vol., dry.

On the palate

Cherries in both sweet and tart expressions, redcurrants, peonies and dried rose petals, alongside undergrowth, smoke, foliage, stone and delicate oak. The palate shows juiciness, a sweet core, earthiness and the spice typical of Vosne-Romanée; the fruit oscillates between red and blue nuances. The tannins feel more like powder than classic astringency. A wine that can still be cellared for a few more years.

Distinctive features

The Les Petits Monts vineyard enjoys an outstanding reputation. Sophie Noëllat descends from the sixth generation of Domaine Michel Noëllat, Arnaud Sirugue from the fifth generation of Domaine Robert Sirugue; in 2023 they fully took over the Sirugue legacy and completed the new cellar. Their guiding principle: precision and finesse.
