About this wine
Character
A wine of great depth with classic Vosne notes, dark and serious in build, yet transparent and clean. A light veil of yeastiness still lingers on the nose owing to its youth, beneath which lie cherry, plum and dark raspberry, violet and rose petal, along with raw meat, leather, tobacco, undergrowth, black tea and liquorice.
Terroir and origin
The grapes are harvested at the northern end of Vosne-Romanée, where they tend to turn out darker: notably in Aux Réas, right next to the Grand Cru La Tâche, and in Au Dessus de la Rivière. The vines there are 50 to 80 years old. Arnaud Sirugue, fifth generation of Domaine Robert Sirugue, and Sophie Noëllat, sixth generation of Domaine Michel Noëllat, have run twelve hectares in Vosne-Romanée since 2023. Their house motto is "Precision and finesse".
Grape variety and vinification
Pinot Noir, 30% fermented as whole clusters, a technique that preserves freshness and refines the tannins. Around 40% new oak during ageing; the house's wines mature for 12 to 15 months in barrel.
On the palate
More open and transparent than on the nose, carried by fluid acidity and a finely polished texture. The dark fruit remains gripping in its elegant, almost noble bearing: tart yet lightly sweet cherry fruit, delicate spice, plenty of energy. The wine sets a sweet core against its austerity, juicy, playful fruit against its power.
Distinctive features
Very old vines and parcels in direct proximity to La Tâche give this village wine its stature. In 2023, Arnaud Sirugue and Sophie Noëllat fully took over the Sirugue legacy and completed the new cellar below Domaine Anne Gros.
