About this wine
Character
A calm, clearly drawn Pinot Noir with dark cherry and raspberry, alongside violet and a hint of undergrowth and spice. Medium body, fine-grained tannin, a fresh acidity that keeps the wine taut. 13.5% vol.
Terroir and origin
Ladoix lies on the northern edge of the Côte de Beaune, at the foot of the Corton hill. For Arnaud Sirugue and Sophie Noëllat, it marks a step away from their home base of Vosne-Romanée, where the couple has farmed twelve hectares since 2023, reaching up to the Grand Cru Grands Échézeaux.
Grape variety and vinification
Pure Pinot Noir. "Precision and finesse" is how Sophie Noëllat describes the house's credo. In warm years, the pair increasingly work with whole-cluster fermentation, which preserves freshness and refines the tannin; the wines age twelve to fifteen months in barrel, with restrained use of oak.
On the palate
Red cherry and raspberry stay juicy, the tannin is silky, the acidity bright. Elegantly structured, with a clean, medium-length finish and a cool contour in the aftertaste.
Food pairings
Duck breast with cherries, coq au vin or a beef stew; also chanterelles on toasted bread and cheeses such as Comté or a medium-aged Époisses. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, no warmer.
Highlights
Here, two Burgundian winemaking families have come together: Sophie Noëllat, sixth generation of Domaine Michel Noëllat, and Arnaud Sirugue, fifth generation of Domaine Robert Sirugue. 2016 saw their first two joint cuvées, and 2023 brought the full takeover of the Sirugue estate and the new winery in Vosne-Romanée.
