About this wine
Character
The Welschriesling Ried Ratschen 2024 by Clemens Krutzler is a dry white wine from Burgenland that combines juiciness with a broad spectrum of spice. The bouquet unfolds generously, enticing you from the very first sip.
Terroir and Origin
The single vineyard Ried Ratschen in Southern Burgenland features sandy, iron-rich soils. Clemens Krutzler works in the fifth generation out of Deutsch-Schützen, within the Pannonian microclimate between Deutsch-Schützen and Eisenberg: daytime heat builds rich aromas, while cool winds from Eastern Styria keep the acidity vibrant.
Grape Variety and Vinification
Single-varietal Welschriesling from 45-year-old vines. Krutzler ferments with natural yeasts and intervenes as little as possible. The wine ages for eleven months in 600-litre barrels, followed by nine months of bottle maturation.
On the Palate
Medium golden yellow in the glass. Juicy, with ample fruit and a delicate fruit sweetness that rounds out this dry-vinified wine; 13.0% ABV. Aromatic notes of juicy apple, honeydew melon and lime zest mingle alongside lemon verbena, pumpkin seed, cardamom, anise and ginger, complemented by wild blossoms and a yeasty nuance.
Special Features
Since 2020, the CK line has represented low-intervention wines crafted by Clemens Krutzler across twelve hectares. Before release, the Welschriesling is granted nine months of rest in the bottle. A wine full of character that is equally delightful enjoyed solo on a balmy summer evening.
