About this wine

Character

A Champagne of finesse, nobility and depth that shows Pinot Noir without blending: structure, red fruit, subtle notes of maturation.

Terroir and origin

The La Perthe parcel lies in Ludes, east of the Montagne de Reims, on clay and sandy soil over a limestone subsoil. The chalky clay soils of Ludes yield elegant, age-worthy wines. Pierre Huré tends the ten hectares of Premier Cru vineyards in Ludes and Villedommange, while François Huré runs the cellar.

Grape variety and vinification

Single-varietal Pinot Noir. The 4 éléments series always combines a single parcel, a single grape variety, a single vintage and its own vinification. After fermentation, the wine aged for 18 months in demi-muids, 600-litre oak barrels, in which malolactic fermentation was blocked. After tirage it rested under natural cork until April 2025, when 2,113 bottles were disgorged and given a dosage of 1.2 grams: Extra Brut.

On the palate

Intense straw yellow with copper reflections and an elegant perlage. On the nose, red berries, kumquats and red apples, alongside warm buttered brioche and Pain Suisse, salted caramel, cinnamon, stone and petrichor. The palate remains highly refined and balanced: red and citrus fruit, at once fresh, crisp and fleshy, carried by a creamy texture, fine, vibrant minerality, elegant autolytic notes and a subtle sweetness. 12.0% Vol.

Special features

2019 tested the winegrowers: 20 °C in February, late frosts in April, and two heatwaves in July reaching up to 43 °C. Yields were low, but acidity and sugar levels were on point at harvest. In the Huré Frères cellar in Ludes, a solera has been continuously fed since 1982, tended by three generations.
