About this wine

Character

Insouciance carries the name of light-heartedness, and that is exactly how it presents itself: direct, cool, without sweet roundness. The red fruit stays taut and clearly defined, with acidity taking the lead. A rosé Champagne that tells its origin through tension rather than richness.

Terroir and origin

Huré Frères is based in Ludes, in the eastern part of the Montagne de Reims. The ten hectares of Premier Cru vineyards lie in Ludes and Villedommange and are worked by the family themselves. The chalky, clay-rich soils of Ludes are known for producing elegant, age-worthy wines; Villedommange, on the western side of the ridge, contributes richness and balance. Pierre Huré is responsible for the vines, his brother François for the cellar.

Grape variety and vinification

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the two grape varieties of the cuvée, share the work: Pinot Noir provides the colour and structure, Chardonnay the citrus freshness and the chalky note. As an Extra Brut, the wine carries a very low dosage, letting the fruit stand out all the more unadorned. The base is the 2023 vintage, with alcohol at 12.0% Vol.

On the palate

A fine, lingering bead, then redcurrant and strawberry, along with lemon zest and a touch of brioche. The finish is dry, saline and mineral, and longer than the wine's slender build would suggest.

Special features

The estate traces back to Georges Huré, who in 1960 gave in to the dreams of his wife Jeanne and bought a wine estate; in 1971 the three sons took over and gave the house its name. Since 2008, François, who studied in Dijon, worked with Jean-Pierre Fleury and gained experience in Australia and New Zealand, has been running it. Since 2012, Pierre has been at his side.
