About this wine

Character

A rosé with weight: full-bodied, densely structured and marked by the liquorice note of Mourvèdre, built for ageing rather than quick thirst-quenching. In the 3-litre format, this maturation unfolds even more slowly.

Terroir and origin

The estate sits at the highest point of Bandol. The vines grow on the restanques, centuries-old, hand-built stone terraces that rise up the slope like the tiers of a theatre, overlooking the Mediterranean. Each level brings its own microclimate. The subsoil is Triassic rock with blue marl and prehistoric fossils. From 16 hectares in 1977, the estate has grown to around 50 hectares, organic-certified since 2019.

Grape variety and vinification

Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Éric de Saint Victor, at the helm since 2000, and cellar master Marie Laroze, with the estate since 2008, work the 220 individual plots separately. The grapes pass through the gravity-fed cellar that the family established early on. The goal remains the same: hedonistic, sensual wines without ostentation.

On the palate

Pale salmon-pink with clear highlights. On the nose, ripe red berries and citrus zest, underscored by liquorice. Full-bodied, velvety in texture, with structure and depth that carry the wine well beyond summer. Dry, 13.5% Vol.

Special features

Organic-certified since 2019. Between 1980 and 1985, the estate won five consecutive gold medals at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris, and Slow Food ranked Pibarnon among the world's 150 best wines. The 3000 ml double-magnum serves as both an ageing vessel and a table format.
