About this wine
Character
A dry white wine with a cool, saline disposition that balances fruit, spice, and tannins in equal measure. 12.5% ABV, bone-dry without residual sweetness, offering remarkable drive and drinkability.
Terroir and Origin
The grapes originate from Ried Edelgraben, a single vineyard of the estate designated as Leithaberg DAC. The thirty-year-old Chardonnay and Weissburgunder vines thrive on limestone and mica schist. Gernot and Heike Heinrich specifically acquired these stony parcels, often the very plots that others had abandoned.
Grape Varieties and Vinification
Hand-harvested in late August. The Chardonnay was gently crushed and left on the skins for several hours, while the Weissburgunder was directly pressed. Fermentation occurred spontaneously, followed by malolactic fermentation and 19 months of aging on the natural lees in amphorae. The clay amphorae allow for micro-oxygenation without imparting oak aromas; in the cellar, the estate relies on gravity rather than pumps.
On the Palate
A dense fruit profile on the nose featuring juicy mirabelle plum, ripe pear, stewed apple, and orange, accompanied by hay, aniseed, and freshly ground white pepper, meadow flowers, honey, delicate smoky nuances, and stony minerality. On the palate, the fruit remains juicy, laced with saline notes, vibrant acidity, and thoroughly stimulating tannins. The cool-toned structure lingers long.
Food Pairings
A wine crafted for flavour-intensive cuisine. It also stands effortlessly on its own in the glass, without need of a plate.

Gernot and Heike Heinrich have farmed biodynamically in Gols since 2006, holding Demeter certification since 2017; in 2009, they co-founded the respekt-BIODYN association. One hundred hectares, completely cultivated under biodynamic practices.
