About this wine

Character

A fresh, well-structured red wine whose fruit and oak aromas are cleanly aligned. It has weight without ever feeling heavy, and stays lively from the first sip to the last.

Terroir and origin

Bodegas Habla is located near Trujillo in Extremadura. Juan Tirado and José Civantos spent eight years searching for the right terroir before founding the estate in 1999 on 200 hectares of slate soil. The soil is barren, summers are scorching hot, winters bitterly cold. The region today has 81,000 hectares under vine and a winemaking tradition going back millennia.

Grape variety and vinification

Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Tempranillo (30%) and Syrah (30%). Fermented in stainless steel, then aged eight months in French barriques. 13.5% vol., dry.

On the palate

On the nose, clear cherry fruit and sweetish oak notes at first; with air, the latter recede and the nose becomes more sensuous. On the palate it is juicy and meaty, with fine-grained tannin providing the necessary grip. The finish is of medium length.

Food pairings

Pork chops with sage pick up on the wine's spicy side, while oven-roasted mushrooms match its meaty body.

Special features

Habla del Silencio means "silence speaks" and represents the estate's multi-layered cuvée. The winery, designed by GAP Arquitectos, spans 12,000 square metres, is built semi-underground and processes the grapes by gravity in the Roman tradition; the concept won the Extremadura Architecture Award. Bodegas Habla is one of the most renowned producers in Extremadura.
