About this wine
Character
Deep purple in the glass. The nose shows high intensity: abundant dark fruit, above all blackcurrant, alongside spicy oak notes that are cleanly integrated. A red wine that combines power and concentration with freshness, never appearing heavy.
Terroir and origin
Bodegas Habla is located near Trujillo in the heart of Extremadura, where Juan Tirado and José Civantos found 200 hectares of slate soils in 1999 after an eight-year search. Poor soil, scorching summers, and biting cold winters: conditions under which weak vines perish and strong ones are pushed to their finest performance.
Grape variety and vinification
Single-varietal Cabernet Franc, a rarity in Spain with just 750 hectares under vine. The grapes were destemmed and fermented in steel tanks, after which the wine aged for twelve months in French barriques. 14.0% vol., dry.
On the palate
Compact and dense, with dark fruit, spice and a mineral streak. The full body is framed by velvety tannins, and from attack to finish the wine holds its tension. Long and precise on the finish, complex and beautifully balanced.
Food pairings
With Rabo de Toro, braised oxtail, and with Jamón Ibérico.
Special features
The numbered wines are one-off creations: each number appears only once and is never repeated, making every vintage a work in its own right. The semi-underground bodega designed by GAP Arquitectos processes the grapes by gravity in the Roman tradition, its copper outer skin patinating over the years. This concept won the Extremadura Architecture Award.
