About this wine

Character

A Pinot Blanc that holds fullness and tension together. The nose recalls perfectly ripe pears, yellow apples and mirabelle plums, joined by exotic hints of mango and star fruit. Beneath lies a fine layer of crème fraîche, while a stony, smoky note hovers above.

Terroir and origin

The grapes grow on terraces on Sulzfeld's Cyriakusberg, in the upper shell-limestone site. These are non-consolidated terraces facing south-southeast, with very stony, skeleton-rich soil. The vines date from the 1960s and have never seen agrochemicals.

Grape variety and vinification

A varietally pure Pinot Blanc from Sulzfeld in Franconia. It was fermented in large wooden casks, where it also underwent malolactic fermentation and maturation. At Zehnthof, cellar master Philipp Luckert consistently works with spontaneous fermentation using natural yeasts. The wine is dry with 13.0% ABV.

On the palate

The exotic fruit is more pronounced than on the nose, with pineapple joining in. The pale, fleshy, ripe fruit is carried by drive and a vibrant liveliness, the slight smokiness stemming from the shell limestone. Juicy, creamy, coating.

Special features

When the Luckerts acquired the vineyard in 2007, they wanted to change nothing about its chemical-free cultivation. This site thus became the catalyst for Zehnthof winery's shift towards organic viticulture — the estate that VINUM named Winery of the Year 2025.
