About this wine

Character

A dry Champagne that draws its depth from lees ageing rather than sugar. Brioche and candied citrus sit alongside an almost saline minerality, joined by green apple and a hint of white pepper. The fruit remains taut and well defined throughout.

Terroir and origin

Champagne Régis Poissinet is located in Cuchery, in the Marne Valley. The family estate's seven hectares are spread across 35 parcels around Cuchery, Baslieux, Leuvrigny, Troissy and Mareuil-le-Port, with vines averaging 33 years of age. Chalky clay and alluvial limestone marl define the soils and give the wines their mineral backbone.

Grape variety and vinification

The blend combines Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, with Pinot Meunier at the heart of Régis Poissinet's cuvée. Each parcel is vinified separately before being assembled. Extra Brut here means a dosage between 1.7 and 3.5 grams of sugar per litre, which demands flawless base wines. Alcohol content is 12.0% ABV.

On the palate

Taut and linear, with a creamy lees texture underneath and a saline minerality on the finish. Nothing softens the acidity, and the wine's energy remains palpable right to the end.

Food pairings

Pairs beautifully with fresh oysters, scallop carpaccio or sashimi, and cod fillet with lemon butter. On the cheese board, aged Comté and a well-matured Parmigiano Reggiano hit the mark.

Special features

The 1500 ml magnum format. The estate has worked biodynamically since 2011, using its own compost made from animal and plant residues, without herbicides or insecticides, with grasses and wildflowers growing between the vine rows. The label carries the Demeter logo. Son Maxime already works alongside in the vineyard.
