About this wine

Character

A rosé Champagne whose bouquet promises more sweetness than it actually delivers. The nose speaks of depth, energy, fruit and vitality, while the wine itself comes across as serious and structured. Vivid strawberry pink in the glass, with a fine mousse.

Terroir and origin

Champagne Régis Poissinet is based in Cuchery, in the Marne Valley. Seven hectares are spread across 35 parcels around Cuchery, Baslieux, Leuvrigny, Troissy and Mareuil-le-Port, with vines averaging 33 years old. The soils are calcareous clay and alluvial limestone marl. The family estate has farmed biodynamically since 2011: no herbicides, no insecticides, its own compost made from animal and plant residues, and grasses and wildflowers forming a living mulch between the rows. Each parcel is vinified separately and only blended afterwards.

Grape variety and vinification

The cuvée combines 70 percent Meunier with 30 percent Chardonnay. Pinot Meunier plays the lead role here, not a supporting one. The base wines were aged entirely in oak barrels. Disgorgement took place on 26 February 2024, with a dosage of 1.5 g/L. Extra Brut here means: almost no dosage, and therefore nothing to mask any flaws in the base wines.

On the palate

The Champagne echoes the fruit found on the nose, but in a different register: tart red fruits, a touch of fruit compote, almond cream and chalky notes, carried by a light tannic grip. A well-balanced rosé Champagne and an excellent companion at the table.

Special features

587 bottles were filled. The full oak ageing of the base wines shapes the bouquet with hints of Swiss pine, nuts and spice. The label carries the Demeter logo.
