About this wine

Character

The Acrollam Blanc 2025 sets ripe Mediterranean fruit against a cool, chalky minerality. It lacks density or weight, yet still shows concentration, only in a lean, linear way. The yellow fruit remains present throughout, without ever dominating.

Terroir and origin

Bàrbara Mesquida Mora launched her own project in 2012, after having run her great-grandfather's family estate. Her 20 hectares lie near Porreres on Mallorca and are planted with native grape varieties. The name Acrollam is an anagram of Mallorca, the island spelled backwards. Since 2007 the winery has worked biodynamically: all work follows the lunar calendar, complemented by biodynamic composts, herbal preparations and over 100 fruit trees planted to boost biodiversity.

Grape variety and vinification

Prensal and Giró from old vines carry this wine, two varieties native to the island that have become rare. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts, minimal sulphur, no fining. The wines ferment slowly and age without haste, with an alcohol content of 12.5% vol.

On the palate

The entry is cool, juicy and distinctive. A linear, spicy and stony structure runs almost arrow-straight across the palate, giving it contour, while the subtle, well-integrated acidity combines with the juiciness to provide drive. Later, the chalky, slightly austere impressions return, accompanied by Mediterranean herbs, green olive and a fine saline note.

Food pairings

With grilled turbot and fennel salad, octopus with olive oil and paprika, pa amb oli, couscous with roasted vegetables or goat's cheese.

Special features

Mesquida Mora is among the first biodynamic wineries in Spain. Prensal and Giró are rare native island varieties, and this white shows just how taut and cool a wine from a sun-drenched island can be.
