About this wine

Character

The Arbois Savagnin "En Guille Bouton" 2025 shows the grape variety without oxidative ageing: dry, pale, with saline tension and an acidity that keeps the wine upright. Not a vin de voile, but the fresh reading of Savagnin.

Terroir and origin

Domaine Grand farms its plots between Arbois and Château-Chalon on grey limestone as well as grey and red marl, partly with dolomitic influence. It is from these soils that the wine's mineral coolness comes. In 2015, Emmanuel and Nathalie Grand decided to reduce the vineyard area from 24 to 9.5 hectares; some of the estate's plots carry vines over a hundred years old.

Grape variety and vinification

Pure Savagnin. Nathalie Grand runs the vineyards, which have been organically farmed since conversion in 2018, while Emmanuel Grand oversees the cellar. He vinifies in old barrels and with minimal sulfur, here without flor, so that the fruit and the site's minerality remain unadorned.

On the palate

Grapefruit, white blossom and green walnut, followed by a stony note. Dry and lean on the palate, with white currant and citrus, carried by vibrant acidity and a saline minerality that defines the finish.

Food pairings

With aged Comté and other mature hard cheeses, with poached fish in herb sauce and with root vegetables.

Special features

The Grand family has been making wine in Arbois since 1692, now in its ninth generation and producing around 45,000 bottles a year. The Guide Hachette named them "Vignerons de l'année" in 2020. The labels are designed by French artist Bast.
