About this wine
Character
Pierre-Henri Rougeot shows Pinot Noir unmasked: delicate, juicy, with cool red fruit and no weight from oak. A wine built on balance and freshness rather than power, whose origin you taste before you even think about the winemaking.
Terroir and origin
The «Les Longbois» vineyard lies in the north of the Beaune appellation, close to the border with Savigny-lès-Beaune. Cooler air flows in from the neighbouring valley, and the elevated site sits on clay-limestone soils. The 2023 vintage draws energy and a distinct mineral vein from this setting.
Grape variety and vinification
One hundred percent Pinot Noir. Rougeot works the vineyard close to nature, with minimal intervention spraying. In the cellar, the wine ferments spontaneously, with extremely restrained sulphur use. Ageing takes place in used French oak barrels, which impose no aroma of their own on the wine.
On the palate
The attack is juicy, the tannin silky, the acidity lively. Red cherry and wild berries lead the line, with fine herbal notes and minerality carrying it through. Dry, at 13.0% ABV, built with a light touch.
Food pairings
With roast quail and duck breast, and, lightly chilled, also with bœuf bourguignon. Equally good with lamb chop, tender roast veal, or mature Comté.
Distinctive features
A purist single-vineyard wine: no cosmetic intervention, spontaneous fermentation, minimal sulphur use, used oak. What remains is the signature of the plot in the north of Beaune.
