About this wine

Character

A Pinot Noir of light stature and precise definition. Pierre-Henri Rougeot intervenes little in the cellar, and it shows: 12.5% ABV, no oak spice, but all the freshness of the 2023 vintage. A red wine that puts origin before power.

Terroir and origin

The Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation brings together plots at the northern and southern ends of the Côte de Nuits. The «La Plante du Bois» parcel sits on the region's limestone and clay soils and is farmed by hand. The cool microclimate preserves the grapes' acidity and aromatics.

Grape variety and vinification

A single-varietal Pinot Noir. Fermentation starts spontaneously with the resident yeasts, extraction remains gentle, and sulphur use is kept to a minimum. The wine is aged in used oak barrels, which contribute no toasted notes and let the variety's acid structure show through.

On the palate

Wild raspberry and morello cherry, followed by an earthy, mineral edge. The texture is silky, the body lean, the tannin fine-grained. Dry and fresh through to the finish.

Food pairings

Pairs with pink-roasted saddle of venison, pheasant or quail with herbs, as well as coq au vin, pan-seared duck breast and dishes with mushrooms. Also good with creamy Brie de Meaux and, lightly chilled, with pink-roasted veal fillet.
