About this wine

Character

A white Burgundy built on tension rather than richness. Cool, chalky structure, a taut vein of acidity, and a long, subtly saline finish. Opulent fruit and loud oak are kept firmly in the background.

Terroir and origin

Le Champlots is a premier cru of the Côte de Beaune, situated above the valley of Saint-Aubin. The plot slopes steeply to the southeast, with lean clay soil interspersed with limestone scree. The cool microclimate of the elevated site shielded the grapes from the heat of the 2023 vintage, preserving the site's mineral freshness.

Grape variety and vinification

Pure Chardonnay. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, ageing takes place in used oak barrels, and sulphur is used sparingly. This keeps the cellar's signature subtle, allowing the origin to take centre stage.

On the palate

Crisp lemon and green apple, joined by white blossom and a fine chalky note that carries through the finish. The wine is taut and finely drawn, with a juicy core, remaining saline and fresh right to the end.

Food pairing

Purely prepared seafood, such as seared scallops or turbot in lemon butter. Equally at home with delicate poultry in morel cream sauce and aged Comté.

Special features

13.5% ABV, dry. A premier cru that shows the cool, chalk-driven style of its elevated site without embellishment.
