About this wine
Character
A Pinot Noir that speaks early: charming, open, juicy. The acidity builds tension and keeps the fruit in motion, while the tannin stays restrained and glides smoothly along. The wine is still very young, but already gives pleasure after some air in the glass.
Terroir and origin
The climat La Montagne lies above Les Longeroies and partly extends into the forest. This gives the south-facing vineyard a cooling influence. Charlopin Tissier farms 0.46 hectares of it, with the climat measuring 2.66 hectares in total. The estate's beginnings in Marsannay came from vineyards belonging to Justine Tissier's family.
Grape variety and vinification
Single-varietal Pinot Noir, fully destemmed, cool pre-fermentation followed by spontaneous fermentation. Ageing lasts 16 months on fine lees in 228-litre barriques, mainly from François Frères, with a new oak proportion of 20 to 30%. 13.5% vol., dry.
On the palate
On the nose, wild strawberries, raspberries, dark cherries and a touch of plum, followed by dried herbs, undergrowth, a little stone and brushwood. On the palate, the juiciness typical of Pinot, fine tannin and a lively acidity that gives the red fruit tension.
Food pairing suggestions
Rabbit in classic Dijon mustard sauce with carrots and fried parsley, sweet-and-sour kidneys with elderberry juice and rosemary, or, for a vegetarian option, a tart with fennel, feta and confit cherry tomatoes.
Special features
Yann Charlopin, son of Philippe Charlopin, trained with Jean-Marie Fourrier and founded the domaine in 2013 with his wife Justine Tissier in Morey-Saint-Denis, today spanning just over four hectares in the Côte de Nuits. The red wines mature slowly on fine lees, receive minimal sulphur and only light filtration.
