About this wine

Character

The Pernand-Vergelesses blanc AOC 2023 by Charlopin Tissier is a dry Chardonnay from Burgundy, grown on old vines in the Sous Frétille climat. Its character is subtle, elegant and aristocratic: reserved and present at the same time, without fruit or oak pushing to the fore.

Terroir and origin

The plot covers 0.11 hectares and lies almost at the crest of the Pernand-Vergelesses hill, facing largely southeast, directly adjoining the Corton climat. The sun only reaches the vineyard at midday, and this coolness shapes the wine right through to the freshness of its finish.

Grape variety and vinification

Pure Chardonnay. The grapes are destemmed and the must ferments spontaneously. The wine then matures slowly for 16 months on fine lees in cigar-shaped 400-litre barrels with 75 to 100 % new oak. Yann Charlopin, trained in the cellar of his father Philippe Charlopin and with Jean-Marie Fourrier, founded the domaine in 2013 together with Justine Tissier; organic hand-work, spontaneous fermentation and extended lees ageing apply across the whole range.

On the palate

Pale golden yellow with distinct green reflections. On the nose, apple, pear, a hint of almond, salad burnet and toasted white bread. On the palate, bright fruit of pear and quince, along with herbal, ethereal notes of lemon balm and angelica that lend freshness. 13.0 % vol., dry.

Special features

A wine that appreciates a companion just as purist as itself. From a tiny 0.11-hectare holding comes a white Burgundy in its purest form.
