About this wine
Character
An elegant and precise Sauvignon Blanc from Guillaume Sorbe, a deep straw yellow in the glass. The nose stays true to the variety: gooseberry, white currant with its leaves, lemon sorbet, lime and nettle leaves, followed by a touch of passion fruit.
Terroir and origin
The grapes come from plots in Quincy on the Loire, where the vines grow on predominantly gravelly, limestone-rich soils. Since the 2018 vintage, the estate has declared this Quincy as Vin de France.
Grape variety and vinification
Single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc. The must ferments spontaneously, after which the wine ages for three years, partly in tank but mainly in used 400- and 600-litre barrels. This long ageing in used wood gives the wine substance without loading it up with oak flavours.
On the palate
Juicy, silky and fresh, at once deep and vibrant. The Argos shows great fullness, held together by freshness and precision; saline-tart notes and a chalky texture mark the finish. Structure, pleasant acidity, power and length define this wine.
Special features
Three years of ageing is a long time for a Sauvignon Blanc, and you can taste what it's for: the Argos has depth and calm rather than mere primary fruit. Vinified dry, 13.0% vol.
