About this wine

Character

The Hausmarke is the everyday part of the Weingut Moric portfolio: a dry white wine that brings the estate's signature style into an approachable form. Roland Velich charted his own path in 2001, seeking elegance rather than opulence in Burgenland. The Supernatural weiss follows this philosophy: fresh and straightforward, unadorned.

Terroir and Origin

Burgenland, Austria. The winery is based in Grosshöflein and cultivates 22.5 hectares of vineyards biodynamically, allowing the vines to express their terroir unfiltered.

Grape Variety and Vinification

The wine does not declare a grape variety, as the label places origin above variety. The name Supernatural points to the estate's cellar approach, which relies on restraint and minimal intervention: trust in the vineyard and vintage rather than cellar corrections. At 13.0% ABV, the 2023 remains moderate, with residual sugar in the dry spectrum.

On the Palate

Taut and dry, driven by lively acidity. Lemon and fine herbal spice dominate the profile, backed by a mineral drive. Medium body, with a finish that remains fruit-driven and lingering.

Food Pairings

Grilled or baked fish with herbs, pasta with vegetable sugo or herbal sauce, oven-roasted chicken, parmesan risotto. A salad with goat's cheese also pairs wonderfully, as do olives and aged cheese as an appetizer.

Highlights

Falstaff named Roland Velich Winemaker of the Year in 2023. The Hausmarke demonstrates that very same ethos in an accessible category.
