About this wine

Character

A dry white wine with a clear line: lean, racy, and underpinned by mineral tension. Its power does not stem from richness, but from precision, freshness, and an exceptionally clearly defined aromatic profile.

Terroir and Origin

Tokaj in northeastern Hungary, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to the noble sweet Aszú, is once again producing exceptional dry wines. Volcanic soils of rhyolite and loess, combined with a continental climate featuring long autumns, shape the Furmint: mineral depth and a natural acidic structure. Turoska designates the specific origin within this landscape.

Grape Variety and Vinification

Furmint is a high-acid white grape variety whose texture balances between leanness and substance. The "T" is vinified strictly dry, reaching 13.0% ABV. Roland Velich intervenes as little as possible in the cellar to allow the terroir to speak unadorned; in Hungary, he collaborates with local winegrowers for this purpose. The wine is bottled at the Moric estate in Grosshöflein.

On the Palate

The nose opens with kaffir lime, bergamot zest, lime, Meyer lemon, and bitter orange, complemented by candied ginger and grapefruit, with cantaloupe melon and nashi pear in the background. The core is defined by herbs: lemon balm, lemon thyme, chervil, mint, lemongrass, and a hint of coriander. Added to this are white pepper, beeswax, and a cool, stony note of oyster shell and cold smoke. The palate remains taut, the chalky structure pulls through, and the acidity carries the wine without ever jutting out. Saline and delicately bitter components create length; the finish sees the return of herbs and citrus.

Food Pairings

Pairs beautifully with grilled pike-perch, chicken paprikash with nockerl, and mature goat cheese.
