About this wine
Character
A dry Pinot Noir from the Côte de Beaune, whose substance comes from the age of the vines: planted in 1927, they now bear fruit at nearly a century old. They yield wines of rare concentration, carrying 12.5% ABV without heaviness. Silky tannins and floral notes define the portrait Darviot-Perrin paints here.
Terroir and origin
The domaine is based in Monthélie, where the Darviot family has held its most valuable parcels since the 19th century. Eleven hectares are spread across Monthélie, Volnay, Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, including seven premier cru vineyards. At its heart is Les Santenots, a vineyard on Meursault soil, classified as Volnay.
Grape variety and vinification
Pure Pinot Noir. Pierre-Antonin Darviot took over the family estate in 2019 at age 25, following the death of his father Jacques, and converted it to biodynamic farming; organic certification followed in 2022. In the cellar, he works with up to 100% whole-cluster fermentation, with the stems lending the wine its floral character and silky tannic structure. Bottled without fining or filtration, with minimal sulfur use.
Highlights
Ten generations in a single village, now led by a winemaker who studied oenology in Beaune and worked in the Loire and New Zealand. His first vintage, 2019, marked the start of the domaine's biodynamic era.
