About this wine
Character
The CiFRA Costa Toscana IGP 2023 is a single-varietal Cabernet Franc from Duemani near Riparbella, grown according to biodynamic principles. In the glass, a deep garnet with violet highlights. The nose is alluring, showing blueberry, ripe morello cherry and delicate floral notes, alongside rosemary, thyme and freshly ground white pepper. With air, subtle notes of red bell pepper and the umami character of meat broth emerge. The wine comes across as fresh, aristocratic and distinctly mineral.
Terroir and origin
The vines stand near Riparbella at 250 to 300 metres above sea level, on an amphitheatre-shaped site eight kilometres north of Bolgheri and just as far from the Tuscan coast. This position combines maritime influences with a continental climate. Duemani farms twelve hectares here.
Grape variety and vinification
100 percent Cabernet Franc. Fermentation and ageing take place in cement tanks, and the wine is bottled without fining or filtration. It is dry, at 14.0% vol.
On the palate
A fine fruit sweetness meets notes of liquorice and an extremely lively acidity that stays woven into the fruit and its sweetness. The finish brings subtle woody spice and smoky accents.
Special features
Duemani was founded in 2000 by Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma and has been Demeter-certified since 2004; the logo appears on the label. In the cellar, the team works with cement, amphora and terracotta, without the use of chemical substances.
