About this wine

Character

The estate's flagship wine: a single-varietal Cabernet Franc of monumental power and dense fruit concentration, carried by silky tannin. Dry-finished, 15.0% ABV. The magnum format gives it room to evolve in the cellar over decades.

Terroir and origin

The vines grow near Riparbella, eight kilometres north of Bolgheri and the same distance from the Tuscan coast, on an amphitheatre-shaped site at 250 to 300 metres above sea level, where maritime influence meets a continental climate. Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma founded the estate in 2000; the twelve hectares are farmed according to biodynamic principles.

Grape variety and vinification

100 percent Cabernet Franc. In the cellar, amphora, cement and terracotta are used, with interventions kept to a minimum. The wine is neither fined nor filtered, preserving its density; the estate also credits this practice for the stability and longevity of its wines.

On the palate

An intense interplay of cassis and ripe dark berries, underscored by fine herbs and cool spice. The palate is dense and richly structured, the tannin silky, without the wine's fullness overshadowing its finesse.

Food pairings

With Bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised ox cheeks and wild boar goulash. It also holds its own alongside aged Pecorino Toscano.

Special features

Demeter-certified since 2004, with the logo featured on the label. The estate's annual production is 45,000 bottles. In 2023, Duemani was acquired by Le Tenute del Leone Alato, with Luca D'Attoma remaining involved as a consultant.
