Duemani

Duemani is located near Riparbella in Tuscany and farms twelve hectares of vines at an elevation between 250 and 300 metres. Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma founded the estate in 2000; it has been Demeter-certified since 2004. The core of the vineyard is Cabernet Franc and Syrah, complemented by Merlot and Grenache. In the cellar, the wines ferment in cement tanks and terracotta amphorae and are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Since 2023, Duemani has belonged to Le Tenute del Leone Alato, with Luca D'Attoma continuing to advise the estate as a consultant.
Twelve hectares near Riparbella
Duemani farms twelve hectares near Riparbella, eight kilometres north of Bolgheri and an equal distance from the Tuscan coast. The vineyards rise in an amphitheatre between 250 and 300 metres, where maritime influences meet a continental climate. The soils combine limestone, clay and fossil deposits. In the central vineyard, a plot planted twenty-three years ago, a conglomerate of clay and limestone makes up over forty percent of the soil, and the wines from there have always shown a markedly saline character.
Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma
Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma founded Duemani in 2000; the name means two hands. Luca D'Attoma had already made a name for himself as an enologist, and here he was able, for the first time, to work entirely according to his own vision. Duemani has been Demeter-certified since 2004, and the twelve hectares are farmed without chemical inputs. In 2023 the estate passed to Le Tenute del Leone Alato, with Luca D'Attoma advising it ever since as a consultant.
Cement tank and terracotta amphora
The CiFRA, a Cabernet Franc, ferments and ages in cement tanks and is bottled without clarification or filtration. For the Altrovino, half Merlot and half Cabernet Franc, the Merlot is brought into the cellar in mid-September first, followed by the Cabernet Franc; the grapes are fully destemmed and hand-sorted, the two varieties fermented separately in cement tanks, with part of the Cabernet Franc aged in 500- and 600-litre terracotta amphorae. Only afterward are they blended and aged for eight months in conical French oak vats. The vines in this plot were planted twenty-two years ago and are planted at high density, 8,400 vines per hectare.
The Si Rosé is made from Syrah, harvested at the end of August and already hand-selected in the vineyard. The grapes are pressed immediately, the must is cooled for two days and allowed to settle, with fermentation and ageing following in 300-litre amphorae. This wine, too, is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Cabernet Franc and Syrah
The flagship wine bears the estate's name: Duemani is one hundred percent Cabernet Franc. The Suisassi, a Syrah, is likewise a single-varietal wine, while the G.Punto is made from Grenache and the Tresoro di Riparbella combines Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
