About this wine

Character

A hot-blooded Cabernet Franc that makes no secret of its nature: highly concentrated, full-bodied, with meaty tannin structure and the stamina of a long-distance runner. Power without excess, richness without sweetness.

Terroir and origin

The twelve hectares lie near Riparbella, eight kilometres north of Bolgheri and the same distance from the Tuscan coast, in an amphitheatre-shaped site at 250 to 300 metres above sea level. Here maritime influence meets a continental climate. Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma founded the estate in 2000.

Grape variety and vinification

100 percent Cabernet Franc. In the cellar, amphorae, cement and terracotta are used, and cultivation has followed biodynamic principles without chemical substances from the outset. The wine is bottled neither fined nor filtered, giving it stability and longevity. 14.5% ABV, dry.

On the palate

The nose is led by smokiness: tobacco leaf, charcoal-roasted chestnuts, leek ash, underscored by cassis, cranberry and cherry compote with cinnamon bark. The first sip is rugged, then the wine opens into a dense, full-bodied texture. The tightly knit tannins still need time to find their place within the whole.

Food pairings

With gratinated morels and black trumpet mushrooms with mashed potatoes, brown butter and black truffle, with roasted beef loin with grilled bone marrow, celery and black garlic, or with a braised goose stew made from leg meat, gizzard and liver with kale and parsnips.

Special features

Duemani has been Demeter-certified since 2004 and carries the Demeter logo on its label. Annual production stands at 45,000 bottles. Since the estate's acquisition by Le Tenute del Leone Alato in 2023, Luca D'Attoma has remained connected to it as a consultant.
