About this wine
Character
A Syrah that brings together power and lightness: dense fruit of cassis, cassis liqueur and elderberry juice, carried by a silky texture that all but conceals the 14.5% vol. Dry, built on density and length.
Terroir and origin
The grapes grow at the heart of the estate near Riparbella, on an extremely stony plot. Duemani sits in an amphitheater-like setting at 250 to 300 meters altitude, eight kilometers north of Bolgheri and the same distance from the Tuscan coast, where maritime influence meets a continental climate.
Grape variety and vinification
100% Syrah. Maceration, fermentation and aging take place over 15 to 18 months in French oak tonneaux and barriques. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration. The twelve hectares of vineyards have been Demeter-certified since 2004 and are farmed according to biodynamic principles.
On the palate
A juicy fullness of fruit with blueberry compote, alongside balsamic herbs of sage, rosemary, thyme and eucalyptus. Fine notes of tobacco and leather reveal the restrained use of oak. The structure remains silky and agile, without heaviness.
Food pairings
Wild rabbit with porcini risotto and thyme, pigeon with orange-nougat hollandaise and walnut polenta, and salt-baked beetroot with linseed oil and raspberry vinegar.
Special features
Double magnum, 3000ml. Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma founded Duemani in 2000; annual production stands at 45,000 bottles. Since the estate's acquisition by Le Tenute del Leone Alato in 2023, D'Attoma has continued to advise the winery as a consultant. The label carries the Demeter logo.
