About this wine
Character
A monumental Cabernet Franc that holds power and finesse together. The nose is deep and inviting, marked by sweet black cherries and blackberries; with air, fine dark chocolate, grilled chestnuts, teriyaki sauce and café au lait emerge. Above this lies a cool, stony layer of Kampot pepper, wild sage, eucalyptus and a hint of green pepper.
Terroir and origin
The grapes come from the best parcels of the vineyard near Riparbella, facing the Tyrrhenian Sea. The estate sits in an amphitheatre-shaped site at 250 to 300 metres above sea level, eight kilometres from the Tuscan coast, where maritime influence meets a continental climate.
Grape variety and vinification
100% Cabernet Franc, made according to biodynamic principles: first aged in conical wooden vats, then matured in barriques. Bottled without fining or filtration. 14.5% vol., dry.
On the palate
Juicy and slightly sweet on entry, with an extremely noble tannic structure and a lively acidity wrapped in saline minerality. Despite its power, the wine remains light and finely structured, with freshness and spicy depth side by side. Very good ageing potential.
Food pairings
Saddle of venison with juniper berry jus, fir, blackberries and celeriac purée. Braised wagyu beef short rib with yuzu teriyaki, corn textures, umeboshi, miso potato mousseline and shiso oil. Or risotto with salt-baked black truffle and a celery emulsion.
Special features
Duemani was founded in 2000 by Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma near Riparbella and has been Demeter-certified since 2004; the logo appears on the label. Around 45,000 bottles are produced each year across twelve hectares. The 3000 ml double magnum allows the wine to mature more slowly.
