About this wine

Character

A lean, dry white wine from the Alois Lageder estate in Margreid. At 11.5% vol. it stays light, with aromas aimed at lemon zest and green apple, carried by crisp, direct acidity. A wine that shows its strength young and well chilled.

Terroir and origin

Margreid lies in the southernmost part of South Tyrol, where Mediterranean warmth meets alpine coolness. It was here that Alois III acquired the Löwengang estate in 1934, still the heart of the winery today; the family's story began in 1823 with a wine trading business in Bolzano. Clemens Lageder, born in 1987, now runs the estate as the sixth generation, together with his sisters Helena and Anna. The estate's own vineyards and those of the partner growers are spread across various altitudes.

Grape variety and vinification

Misto Mare brings together several grape varieties in a single white wine. The groundwork is laid in the vineyard: in 2004 the winery converted all 55 hectares of its own vineyards to biodynamic farming, and since 2024 the roughly 60 partner growers have also been working organically or biodynamically. The wildflower meadows between the vine rows are not an afterthought but part of the estate's cycle, alongside soil fertility and social responsibility — the declared priorities of Clemens Lageder.

On the palate

Crisp acidity and a lean body, with white blossom and a fine herbal spice. The finish stays dry and saline, keeping the wine lively.

Special features

The label notes the biodynamic farming. The 1500 ml magnum, bottled in Margreid, brings this light white wine to the table in a format made for sharing over several glasses.
